The Glasgow Gallery of Photography's mission is to advance the arts, heritage and cultural sector through exhibitions of photographic works as a means for artistic, community and personal expression.

The Glasgow Gallery of Photography is running a month long exhibition in August called Identity. The theme of Identity for this exhibition is acutally quite a wide covering theme, and can be expressed is through many genres of photography. Using portrait photography you can explore your own, or other people's indentity through how they express themselves. Through documentary photography you can explore did aspects of a person or a group of people's identity. Maybe the landscape around you is an important part of your identity, so landscape or cityscape images might be an interesting way to explore the theme of Identity. The theme is open to many form of photography, to give as much scope as possible to explore the theme of Identity.

Identity is an open call for photographers to submit up to 8 images that meet the theme Identity. 


Photographers who are selected will have their work displayed for a month long exhibition.
Work will appear online in our online gallery on our website.


We want you to send your best images. We want work from both emerging and established photographers. You do not need to be a professional photographer to participate as we believe that photography is for everyone.


This is a unique opportunity to bring your work to an audience of Artist, Photographers, and Creatives as well as the public.

 

Both Scottish and International photographers are welcome.

All participants that are selected to take part in the exhibition will be put forward for a chance to be named Photographer of the Month.

How to participate:
 Submission for this exhibition is
FREE.  If your work is selected there is a participation fee of £48.00
This covers the cost of
everything.
We will print, install and un-install the work in the gallery space.
Local photographers are free to collect their work afterwards as we will hold it for 1 month.

17th May 2023
 

STEP 1: Choose up to 8 images that are 300ppi and 3000 Pixels minimum on the shortest side. Work will be displayed various sizes.
(You will be asked to resubmit if you do not follow these guidelines)

STEP 2: Name your image file with your name e.g  JohnSmith1
(If you do not name your images correctly they could be lost or misplaced and delay the exhibition. Please only use your name, do not include image titles or any other information)


STEP 3: Make sure your image is a JPEG, we can only except jpegs as this is what the printing company that we use requires.

STEP 4: Send us your 1 to 8 jpegs via Wetransfer/Dropbox (These are free to use) to Submissions@glasgowgalleryofphotography.com

Please tell us your name and nationality and/or where you reside (these will be displayed along with your selected images.)
